MA/MS in Profesjonsstudium i teologi

The six-year professional theology programme at VID is a 360 ECTS full-time study that qualifies for ordination in the Church of Norway. It covers biblical subjects, systematic and practical theology, combined with supervised practice in congregations. The first year is shared with bachelor theology students. The second and third years focus on biblical Hebrew, New Testament Greek, and Old and New Testament exegesis, alongside church history, systematic theology and missiology. From the fourth year the studies join master students and are taught in English, although written work and exams can be submitted in Norwegian. The degree is a cand.theol. with a 30 ECTS final thesis near the end, and includes institutional practice in the seventh semester and a mission practice period abroad in the fifth.
