Diploma in Physical Therapy

The Diploma in Physical Therapy is offered by the College of Health Sciences at the University of Nizwa in Oman. Physical therapy deals with restoring movement and function in people affected by injury, illness or disability, using exercise, manual techniques and guidance on managing their own recovery. Practitioners usually work alongside doctors, nurses and occupational therapists in hospitals and rehabilitation centres. The programme consists of 97 credit hours, studied at 15 credit hours per fall or spring semester, with an expected study time of 4 to 4.5 years. Tuition is charged per credit hour, and the published programme cost also covers a foundation year. Admission looks at the total average and at results in chemistry, biology, physics, Arabic and English. Applicants must also pass a personal interview and a capabilities examination.
