PhD in Ciências Biológicas

This doctoral programme offers advanced, multidisciplinary training in biological sciences, from the cell to the ecosystem. Students choose among specialisations in biochemistry and biotechnology, genetics, genomics and evolution, developmental and integrative biology, and population biology and ecology. Each candidate carries out autonomous research in one of these areas. Training also builds skills in critical evaluation, synthesis and innovation, as well as in communicating science to academic and wider audiences. Graduates can pursue academic or research careers, or work in sectors ranging from ecology to biotechnology, biomedicine and omics research.
