The Master of Development Economics is designed for Arabic-speaking students and uses interdisciplinary research tools to study development challenges in the Arab region. Housed within the School of Economics, Administration and Public Policy, its stated goal is to train development economists and practitioners who can propose practical, ethically grounded, and culturally informed responses to those challenges, rather than importing solutions wholesale from elsewhere.
Graduates are positioned for work across the academic sector and research centers, government ministries, the private sector including banks and insurers, non-governmental and non-profit organizations, and regional or international development institutions. Sitting alongside related programs in public policy and public administration, the degree gives students access to a shared base of economics and governance coursework built around the institute's Arabic-medium approach to graduate education.
