Master of Arts in Linguistics

The MA in Linguistics is offered by the School of Humanities at Nanyang Technological University as a graduate coursework programme, available full-time and part-time. It gives a broad grounding across the elements of language and communication and encourages students to build a solid theoretical foundation in linguistics and related disciplines. The syllabus stresses language structure, sociolinguistics and psycholinguistics, and links theory to real-life issues through discussion of applications. Because Singapore is home to many languages and cultures, the multilingual dimension of linguistics is a focal point of the curriculum. Students complete 30 Academic Units, made up of one 3-AU core course, Introduction to Linguistics, and nine electives chosen from three concentration areas. Intakes are in January and August.
