Master of Education (Chinese Language)

The Chinese Language specialisation of the Master of Education is run by the National Institute of Education for teachers and other professionals working in Chinese language education. It prepares them for greater responsibility later in their careers by deepening their grasp of both theory and classroom practice. The programme covers curricular and pedagogical questions together with linguistic theories and culture. Students examine current linguistic theories and research methods connected to language teaching and learning, which lets them carry out small-scale studies tied to course content and to the language teaching in their own schools. Graduates leave with a broader foundation for curriculum, assessment and research work in Chinese language education. It is one of 16 specialisations within the Master of Education, a degree intended mainly for teachers employed by schools in Singapore or by the Ministry of Education. Study is available full-time or part-time.
