Master of Education (Drama)

The Drama specialisation of the Master of Education offers advanced academic study of drama alongside professional practice, both in the art form itself and in teaching it. It looks at drama performance and process and at how these are used in educational settings. Students work through both theoretical and practical questions of drama pedagogy, concentrating on current issues in the field. They gain insight into the creative processes of drama and of teaching it, performance included, and build skills for teaching drama both as a discipline and as a vehicle for learning. They also explore what drama and theatre do in a range of contexts. The programme takes a multi-disciplinary approach to learning and performance in drama. It is one of 16 specialisations within the Master of Education, a degree intended mainly for teachers employed by schools in Singapore or by the Ministry of Education. Study is available full-time or part-time.
