Overview

This doctoral programme is for prospective researchers who wish to contribute to cultural and social transformation by way of in-depth research. It takes an interdisciplinary approach and builds advanced research abilities with the support of experienced mentors, while giving space to examine contemporary social challenges. It lasts three years over six semesters and carries 180 ECTS credits. The first two years combine humanities course units with elective courses, 60 ECTS per year, and the final two semesters are devoted to preparing and defending the doctoral dissertation, worth 30 ECTS each. Study is part-time in Ljubljana, with lectures starting in November. Graduates receive the title Doctor of Science. Possible careers include academia, culture and bodies such as UNESCO, the UN or the EU, where graduates help analyse cultural and social issues and shape policy.
