This doctoral programme is designed to develop expert knowledge in ecotechnologies, a term meant to combine ecological and economic thinking. Study is organised around the research and development projects of industry, service activities and the public sector.
It responds to a shortage of professionally qualified, sustainability-oriented managers. Slovenia has built sustainable development into its basic research strategy, supported by a range of legal, environmental, economic and social instruments, and joining the European Union raised the demand for competitiveness and for faster development and transfer of ecotechnologies.
The approach promoted here joins social, economic, technological and environmental aims, especially in production and consumption, and emphasises new processes and products that use raw materials and energy efficiently, minimise and recycle waste and reduce the environmental impact of production and transport.
