Anthropology is a double-discipline Bachelor's programme at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Primorska (UP FHŠ), offered in Slovenian or English. It is grounded in social and cultural anthropology, which looks at culture mainly as behaviour that people develop in interaction with each other. Students study how different social groups lived in the past and live now, including how they are organised and how processes such as cultural adaptation and assimilation unfold.
Because it compares societies and crosses disciplines, the subject also takes in migration, changing spaces, customs, identities and patterns of conduct. The programme applies these themes in varied social and historical contexts: Slovenian ethnic territory, the Mediterranean (Istria), Europe and other continents, notably through research among the indigenous peoples of the Americas.
The award is a Bachelor of Arts, three years long and 180 ECTS credits in size. Applicants choose two double-discipline programmes, or pair this one with a double-discipline module drawn from another faculty programme.
