Overview

The five-year programme in medical physics is a vocational education that combines physics with applications in medicine and studies how radiation is used in health care to diagnose and treat diseases. The first two years are shared with the bachelor's programme in physics and taught in Swedish, covering basic physics and mathematics. From the third year, training becomes more specialised, takes place largely in hospitals with board-certified medical physicists, and is taught in English. The programme is interdisciplinary across physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology and medicine. After completing it, graduates can apply to the National Board of Health and Welfare for a licence as a medical physicist, which requires good working knowledge of Swedish.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Swedish 3 (upper secondary) or equivalent. International applicants are referred to the Master's Programme in Medical Radiation Physics.
