Program details

Overview

The German Language and Literature programme, established in 1976, aims to develop students' critical view of the social sciences and their ability to express ideas in writing and speech. It brings together literature, language and related disciplines to present German culture alongside global issues. Students learn to understand other cultures from a comparative perspective as well as their own. The four-year programme is taught in German and awards a bachelor's diploma in German Language and Literature.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission is through Türkiye's national university entrance examination YKS (Yükseköğretim Kurumları Sınavı), with central placement by ÖSYM using the DİL (foreign language) score type. In the 2026 guide the programme offered 65 places; the lowest placed candidate scored 414.6 (success rank 16,960). Programmes taught in a foreign language require passing the university's language proficiency exam or an accepted certificate, otherwise a preparatory year. International students apply directly to the university under its international (YÖS) quota.

Application Details

Application Process: Turkish applicants list the programme among their choices (tercih) in ÖSYM's central placement after the YKS results each July; international applicants apply directly to the university's international student office under the YÖS quota, usually between May and August.
