Child Development is a two-year associate programme that began admitting students in the 2011-2012 academic year. It aims to train highly qualified child development specialists who can support the development of children aged 0 to 18, including children with special needs, children who are ill, children in need of protection and children at risk. Graduates can also develop assessment tools and provide consultancy, publication and research services. In the first year students take courses on child development, child health and illness, child and play, child and drama, and child and music. In the second year they study child psychology, learning and teaching techniques, communication with children, special education and children's literature, and preschool curriculum development. Graduates may move through vertical transfer to preschool teaching, four-year child development, special education teaching and social work programmes.
