Program details

Overview

The Master of Engineering is an interdisciplinary graduate degree that lets each student assemble an individual curriculum around career or personal goals. The student drafts, together with faculty advisors from engineering, a plan of study that names several intended outcomes, each backed by more than one course. The degree is entirely coursework. No thesis is required, and research or thesis credits cannot count toward it. A substantial share of the plan must come from advanced engineering courses, and every student completes a program assessment course in which they judge how well the plan met their objectives. The degree suits working engineers and graduates who want a flexible, professionally oriented path rather than a research-focused one. Students should plan their coursework with the advisory committee early so that the selected classes fit together around a clear professional objective and satisfy the program's advanced engineering requirements.
