BA/BS in Dance

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance is part of the Department of Theatre and Dance in the College of Fine Arts and is taught on campus. It treats dance as an art form shaped by the world around it, and asks students to direct their own plans, collaborate and innovate. Students build technique, creativity and intellectual understanding through historical, social and conceptual study. Concentrations such as commercial dance focus on styles like hip-hop, jazz, tap and musical theatre dance, with added training for work on camera. Over the four-year program students assemble a portfolio and complete a personalized senior capstone that helps them move toward professional dance work. Admission is by audition, and the program holds national accreditation in theatre and dance.
