The Engineering Technology B.S. trains graduates known as technologists, who work on developing, designing and carrying out engineering and technology projects. The emphasis is on applying knowledge rather than on theory alone.
Much of the learning happens in thirteen laboratories run by the school that houses the major, where students test and refine products and technologies. Coursework leans on algebra, trigonometry and applied calculus rather than advanced theoretical mathematics.
Graduates commonly work in product design, testing, development, fieldwork, operations and quality assurance. Teamwork is stressed as a core professional skill, and detailed course lists are available in the catalog. Students also benefit from small classes and close work with faculty mentors. Interested applicants can review the department pages for faculty, advising details and the full list of required courses in the current university catalog.
