Advanced/Graduate Dentistry and Oral Sciences

This advanced certificate follows national accreditation standards for dental education and prepares graduates to pursue board certification in endodontics. The training is demanding and connects the clinical practice of root canal care with basic science, medical science and other dental fields relevant to the specialty. Under supervision, students perform surgical and nonsurgical treatment until they reach clinical competence. They also have chances to manage cases involving both endodontic and periodontal disease together. Students must be ready for academic expectations that cover how endodontic theory and practice developed, and a method for judging new technologies and materials based on evidence. Every student participates in research, and the project is written up as a manuscript that could be published. Attendance is full time.
