The online Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Music Education lets practicing professionals extend their knowledge through a self-selected sequence of courses matched to their own needs. Applicants must already hold a master's degree in Music Education.
Each student designs an individual plan with an advisor. Two courses are required, one on history and philosophy of music education and one on psychology and sociology of music education, though students who have taken them before may replace them with electives. Graduates of the university's own master's program follow a slightly different course selection.
Students are expected to show knowledge of music education foundations, skill in an area of specialization such as music technology, research or popular music pedagogy, and competence in music theory, history and musicology.
