PGCert in Rhetoric and Composition/Writing Studies

This certificate may be pursued alone or alongside any degree program or major. It targets students interested in teaching composition and in the history and theory of rhetoric. Students take courses on the teaching of composition and on rhetorical history and theory, then select three more English courses within a designated graduate range with advisor approval. The total is 15 units, and a 3.0 average or higher must be kept throughout. The certificate suits students who want a concentrated credential that can stand alone or complement other study, and advisors can explain how its courses fit with a larger academic plan.
