MA/MS in Computer Science

Graduate study in Computer Science culminates in a Master of Science and serves capable students from the local area and farther afield. It is meant to ready people for careers in commerce, technology firms and government. The degree also opens paths toward doctoral study or teaching at two-year colleges. Graduates are expected to bring emerging technologies together into inventive solutions and to use engineering principles to build software that meets stated requirements. Students practice comparing alternative computing approaches, communicating professionally, and picking up new skills on their own, so that their abilities keep pace as the field changes. Interested applicants should review the 2026-2027 graduate catalog entry published by the university, which details the required courses, admission steps and learning outcomes, and should contact the program coordinator with questions about planning their studies and meeting each requirement on time without surprises, whichever term they begin.
