The Biology Transfer Pathway at Central Lakes College covers the first two years of a biology bachelor's degree and is delivered at the Brainerd campus. Students study life science topics ranging including genetics, microbiology, ecology and forestry, plus environmental science. Laboratory work is central to the program. Students learn to collect and analyse data, think scientifically and answer practical questions through experiments, which builds research habits that carry over into university study. The pathway is arranged so that graduates can move into a Minnesota State university as juniors and finish a biology degree there. It also suits students heading toward careers in science, healthcare or environmental work who want a strong foundation before transferring.
