Overview
Students of astronomy and astrophysics at Central Michigan University attend classes in person and graduate with a B.A. or a B.S.
The course list includes heat and statistical physics, quantum mechanics, astrophysics, telescope-based observation and the mathematics used in physics. Students also grow their abilities in mathematics, engineering and computing, which transfer well to space research and technology work.
The university reports a ratio of three students for each faculty member, a figure that supports personal attention in classes and labs. Every student teams up with a faculty advisor to finish a closing project, which gives a chance to demonstrate what has been learned in the subject. The combination of physics depth and technical flexibility keeps career options open, whether a graduate heads toward research, industry or further study. Courses are taught at the Main Campus.
