The Bachelor of Arts in Criminology investigates crime, offenders and victims through both scientific and social approaches. Its interdisciplinary courses borrow from psychology, sociology, legal studies and government to explain the causes of crime, its effects on neighborhoods, and how institutions react.
Required classes are balanced with applied learning in the form of projects, internships and study directed by faculty. Students advance toward an integrative capstone seminar, in which they bring together what they have learned in a focused project.
The program prepares students to think carefully about justice and public safety from several academic angles at once. Prospective students can contact the undergraduate admissions office to ask about requirements, costs and next steps, and the university offers financial awards to newly enrolling freshmen. The university is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and students there benefit from small classes and close contact with faculty.
