Overview

This Certificate of Proficiency is delivered with the Carpenters Union at local training centers around Ohio. It is meant for people who are already working in a registered apprenticeship tied to federal labor oversight. The apprenticeship prepares a learner for journey-level status in carpentry and can also lead to an Associate of Applied Science in Applied Industrial Technology. The certificate focuses on the skills expected of a capable craftsperson who cuts, shapes, and joins timber, including structural framing and finish items like doors, windows, and staircases. Admission works differently from most programs. The union has to select and admit a person into the apprenticeship first, and then a Tri-C representative helps with enrolling in the credit courses. Classes are held at the training center, so students do not travel to a campus for them.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Must be working in a registered apprenticeship; the union selects and admits applicants first, then Tri-C enrolls them in credit courses.
