Overview

The Certificate in Social Research helps students understand how social science studies are designed and how to match research tools to the questions they want to answer. It consists of four courses. Students become familiar with current study designs, methods and standard practices, build skills in statistics and quantitative reasoning, and learn how inquiry is structured. Required courses include one in statistics or data analysis and one in social research that also covers an online training module on protecting people who take part in studies. Many master's students in sociology add the certificate to their degree plans. It also benefits students in fields from psychology to communication and education. Prospective students can review the full requirements and course lists on the program's catalog page at DePaul University.
