Program details

Overview

This graduate degree prepares students for professional practice or advanced research. It offers breadth and depth through five concentrations that allow focused study of particular technical areas. Concentrations include water resources, structures and transportation. Coursework may address hydrology and hydraulics, sediment movement, structural dynamics, numerical methods and the analysis and design of transportation demand. Students choose between a research-oriented thesis and a hands-on engineering project. The GRE is not required, classes are held in person, and fees are billed per credit with separate resident and non-resident rates. The program describes itself as a gateway to expertise in materials and infrastructure. Because the program permits a project instead of research, students can choose the route that suits their career plans. Coursework is organized so that each concentration builds depth in a single technical area.
