This non-degree certificate lets students earn the accounting credit needed to take the CPA licensing exam in Virginia. It is aimed at people who already hold a bachelor's or master's degree and want to meet the coursework side of CPA eligibility.
Students complete a minimum of accounting courses, with part of that work required at Mason once the student is admitted. They need at least a C in each accounting course and an overall grade point average of at least 2.00, with a limit on how many times a course can be attempted.
Study may be part-time, though a full-time load cannot be promised, and students have a fixed window to finish. The certificate qualifies for federal Title IV financial aid, and program outcome disclosures are published by the university's institutional effectiveness office.
