Program details

Overview

This certificate centers on routing across the internet and on securing networks. It is meant for people who work in or plan to join the telecommunications industry yet prefer not to pursue a full master's degree in the field. Three core courses cover internet protocol routing with laboratory work, the TCP/IP suite and border gateway protocol routing. Students then pick electives such as network automation, multi-protocol label switching, enterprise network architecture or voice over IP. The certificate can be completed full time or part time, and it can also run alongside any graduate degree offered by the engineering and computing college. It is administered through the electrical and computer engineering department at the Fairfax Campus. Full course lists, advising contacts and academic policies for the current year are published in the university catalog.
