MA/MS in Applied Mathematics

This Master of Science combines a mathematical foundation with a second area of the student's choosing. Options for the applied focus include computer science, economics, several engineering fields, operations research, physics, and statistics. This blend readies students for careers or additional study in areas such as statistics, computer science, business, and computing at scale. The degree requires thirty credits shared between mathematics and the chosen application area, with a cap on credits taken in courses outside mathematics. Unlike the Master of Arts track, coursework is divided across disciplines, and students do not sit qualifying examinations. Anyone wishing to register for reading and research or for classes in other departments needs the graduate committee's approval. The program is STEM designated, and applications go through the Columbian College graduate admissions office.
