Overview

Graduate students here learn advanced design of computer systems and circuits, using the same design software found in industry. Late-afternoon and evening sections are scheduled, and students can choose to write a thesis or take the non-thesis route. Coursework covers current computing topics such as how systems are organized, how networks are connected, the spread of powerful processors, embedded systems that respond in real time, custom chip design, digital signal processors, and networked platforms. Students leave with up-to-date knowledge of these rapidly changing areas. Submitting GRE scores is optional for every applicant. Language scores from several accepted tests are requested of applicants whose first language is not English. Admission is offered for fall, spring, and, for applicants not needing a student visa, summer. The degree carries a STEM designation, and two recommendations are required.
