Overview

The Civil Engineering major readies students for professional practice or for continued into advanced degrees. Civil engineers design the structures, systems and technologies that support growing communities, and the curriculum reflects that broad responsibility. Students may add an optional concentration. Choices cover construction, environmental and water work, geotechnics, structures and transportation. These let a student shape the degree around a preferred area of practice. Career paths run from planning and design to construction, research, operations and maintenance. Some graduates also move into law, medicine, banking and real estate, applying an engineering foundation to other professions. This is an undergraduate degree taught at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia. Prospective students should consult the program page and the catalog for current requirements, available options and guidance on how the degree is structured, then confirm admission steps with the university before applying.
