Program details

Overview

Chemistry students acquire the knowledge and bench skills used in the field today, in areas like drug formulation, carbon-based chemistry and food science. Quantum chemistry and advanced mathematics are among the listed subjects. The department sees evidence of a Creator in the intricate behavior of materials and teaches students to look after creation by designing and practicing environmentally conscious chemistry. Foundational classes cover general, organic and physical chemistry. Instructors stay in the laboratory to answer questions during procedures such as titrations and infrared spectroscopy. Lectures give plenty of practice, and students combine traditional methods with advanced instruments in facilities that imitate industry and university research labs, with the stated aim that the laboratory trains the hand while lectures teach the mind.
