BA/BS in Criminal Justice and Corrections

Graduates of this course of study are prepared to enter careers such as forensic science, probation work or youth correctional counseling. Forensics and preparation for graduate study are named emphases. The faculty regard Scripture as the foundation for understanding criminal justice and weave that conviction into classroom teaching. Sessions rely on discussion. Students examine historic crimes, brainstorm in groups about approaches and penalties, and then compare their ideas with what was actually decided and what followed. The aim is to understand why the system acts as it does, not only what it does. Internship placements are available with county and local agencies and with state and federal ones, and the college adds a note about its broader emphasis on character, competence and service.
