Program details
Overview
This associate in arts, taken within the liberal arts framework, prepares students for teaching careers in public schools from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Its courses are chosen to line up with teacher licensure programs at four-year colleges.
Students pick the level of licensure that interests them, either pre-kindergarten to second grade, first to sixth grade or fifth to twelfth grade. They then pair it with a subject concentration, for instance English, psychology or math, so that their transfer plans match their chosen teaching field.
The degree is designed for transfer, and graduates may use MassTransfer to continue at a state college or a University of Massachusetts campus. Students work closely with an education advisor and the transfer coordinator to prepare. Background checks are required for participation in the program.
Prospective students can request information or begin an application from the program page, which also sets out degree requirements, learning outcomes, faculty and career outlook for the program.
