AA/AS in Education, General

This associate of arts emphasis lets students complete the early coursework toward a four-year education degree. It combines general education study in the humanities, literature, natural sciences, history and social sciences with education-focused classes. The catalog lists 60 credit hours of study arranged over 4 semesters. The curriculum follows the general education structure used for transfer to Tennessee four-year institutions. Students complete shared core subjects alongside emphasis courses, so the credits are intended to carry toward a bachelor's degree at a receiving university. Southwest Tennessee Community College offers this degree in the Memphis area, and students should confirm course choices with an advisor before transferring. Prospective students can review requirements and sequencing in the catalog before applying.
