AA/AS in Computer and Information Sciences, General

This Associate of Arts is designed for Houston City College students who want to continue toward a bachelor's degree at another school. It fulfills the bulk of the foundational general education areas defined by the state higher education board, together with the state's computer science transfer sequence of courses. The subject examines the ways companies apply technology to run their operations. Learners practice assessing what a business needs, building and administering computer systems, assisting the people who use them, and streamlining workflows, often serving as the go-between for technical staff and everyday users. After transfer, graduates can pursue roles involving data storage, network environments, application software and newer technologies, in a broad spread of sectors where efficient and protected systems matter to the organization's goals.
