Overview

Houston City College's Associate of Applied Science in Application Development trains students to plan, build and release software. Coursework prepares learners for vendor-neutral certification tests in this area and also keeps the door open to continuing at a four-year school. The degree points toward jobs such as software developer, web application programmer and quality tester. It suits students who prefer hands-on analysis and implementation, and its subjects include architecture, verification of systems and the storage and retrieval of information. Within the degree, students choose an emphasis in C#, Java or database administration. Statewide rules limit each student to one award of this kind. Placement testing precedes the first enrollment, and a student can earn one short skills award each academic year.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: TSI testing required prior to first enrollment for all AAS degrees and Level II certificates.
