This graduate degree is intended for applicants holding an undergraduate degree in engineering, physical science, mathematics or a related area who also satisfy the Graduate School's master's rules. GRE reports are expected from nearly everyone, with a quantitative percentile standard, although the university's own engineering graduates are excused.
During the first semester, each student picks an initial advisor to help plan studies and research. By the time a small number of credits are done, the student files a plan of study and forms an advisory committee.
Thirty credit hours complete the degree, and at minimum half of those are expected at the 6600 course level. About half of the coursework is engineering and technical electives that the committee approves. Prospective applicants should check the Graduate School for current application steps.

Admission Requirements: BS in engineering, physical sciences, mathematics or related field; Graduate School MS requirements; official GRE scores at or above 65th percentile Quantitative Reasoning, except ISU engineering BS graduates.
