Overview

People with a bachelor's in engineering or the physical sciences can enter this graduate program once they satisfy the Graduate School's admission standards. The plan blends coursework, original thesis research and a seminar. Because students arrive with different preparation, the schedule for someone with a nuclear engineering bachelor's differs from that of a student trained in another engineering field or a science, and the advisor and committee tailor each plan. Thesis work ends with an oral defense. A non-thesis route is available for students who have enough years of industrial experience, while those considering a doctorate later are strongly encouraged to complete the thesis. Thesis credit counted on the final plan of study has a cap. Students should discuss the best route with a faculty advisor before enrolling.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Graduate School admission; BS degree in a physical science or engineering.
