AA/AS in Chemistry

The chemistry program at Los Angeles City College leads to an Associate of Science degree. It is built around lower-division coursework in chemistry and related physical sciences, and it is aimed at students who plan to continue at a four-year university. Courses also serve general education and physical science needs for several pre-professional tracks, including pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-nursing and pre-pharmacy, as well as majors such as biology, geology and physics. Introductory offerings cover general chemistry with laboratory components. Graduates who stop after the associate degree can look for entry-level positions in chemistry and manufacturing, while the curriculum equally supports transfer into chemistry degrees elsewhere.
