Overview

This post-master's certificate gives educators who already hold a master's degree a route to principal, supervisor and superintendent administrative licensure. It is the alternative to completing the Leadership Studies master's with an Educational Leadership emphasis. Applicants apply through the distance-only application and choose the educational leadership certificate. They need an education master's from an accredited institution, a strong graduate record, and teaching or school counseling experience. Details on required courses and admission procedures are listed in the graduate catalog. Prospective students should review those sections, contact the program coordinator with questions about fit and timing, and apply through the graduate admissions office. Certificate work can often support a later degree or a change in professional practice. Faculty advisors can help students fit the program around work and family schedules, and program staff can explain how the requirements apply to individual situations.
