BA/BS in History

The History program at McKendree University is housed in the Division of Social Science and strengthens students' ability to analyze evidence, apply concepts to varied situations, and build clear arguments. Students learn to evaluate competing interpretations of historical data. Writing and research are central, and each major develops an original research paper during the senior year. The major comes in two versions, one more general and comprehensive for students entering a wide range of careers. Small classes and experienced faculty support the work, and a History minor is available for students in other majors. The program is taught on the McKendree campus in Lebanon, Illinois, and prospective students can request information, schedule a visit, or apply online through the university. Faculty contacts are listed on the program page for questions about courses, advising, and career directions.
