AA/AS in Computer and Information Sciences, General

The Computer Information Systems Department at Merritt College offers courses that pair theory with practical training across major areas of computing. The aim is to give students skills that employers in technology-focused fields look for. Newly introduced associate degree programs concentrate on applications, meaning software, and on infrastructure, meaning hardware. Both are framed around cybersecurity, teaching students how to defend computers and networks against cybercrime in a field that continues to grow. The department sits within the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math area of the college. Students can browse the course list from the program page, and the department office is located in Building S-438 on campus for anyone who wants to ask questions before enrolling. Counseling and student services pages on the college site help newcomers plan their first semester.
