BA/BS in Computer and Information Sciences, General

Midwestern State University offers computing students a degree built around practical projects and close faculty guidance. Coursework covers software engineering alongside areas such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, and classes and labs stay small so students work directly with instructors. The department presents both a BA and a BS pathway, each combining a large block of computer science courses with mathematics and statistics. The BS adds physics. A liberal arts base sits underneath the technical training. Graduates are positioned for roles in research, product development, starting companies, private industry or public agencies. Minors, certificates and a graduate degree are also available for students who want to keep studying computing. Prospective students can contact the department secretary, request a campus visit or apply online, and an updated degree plan is published with each new academic catalog.
