Overview
Oakton's certificate in automation programming is a 22-credit sequence aimed at people who want to work with the equipment that runs modern manufacturing. Coursework centers on programmable logic controllers, the languages used to program automated systems, and industrial robots.
Students work with real equipment rather than only reading about it. Topics include fluid power, electric motors, and sensors, which together explain how automated machines move, respond, and are controlled.
Completing the certificate prepares graduates for positions like PLC programmer or automation engineer. Hiring employers include makers of cars, aircraft, and consumer products. Flexible scheduling options let working adults fit study around their other commitments, whether they are building on a current technical role or moving into automation from another field.
