Overview

The Art degree at Onondaga Community College supports students who want to grow as artists and creative professionals. It starts with a studio foundation in drawing, design, the history of art, the theory of color, and developing concepts. Afterward students concentrate on one medium: studio arts, media and communication design, or photography. By graduation they have assembled a portfolio to use in later steps. Career options include graphic design, multimedia design, and animation, and credits can be transferred to other institutions. Instruction is in person. As a career program, it is oriented toward employment soon after completion rather than transfer. Prospective students can request information, schedule a visit, or talk with college staff before applying, and financial aid specialists are available to explain how to pay for study.
