MA/MS in Mechanical Engineering

PNW offers a graduate mechanical engineering degree via the Mechanical and Civil Engineering department. This degree helps engineers advance their careers in fields that range from small devices to large machinery and systems. Students choose between a thesis option and a non-thesis option. Thesis students select an advisor and conduct research and a literature review in the first year, then form a committee and defend in their final semester. Non-thesis students instead take mostly core mechanical engineering classes, supplemented by math, engineering or statistics electives. Classes are small, instructors mentor students closely, and the department keeps strong ties to regional industry.
