AA/AS in Biology, General

This associate degree covers the basics of biology and is accepted by biology programs at bachelor's-granting colleges. The degree may also lead on to careers including research science, medicine, dentistry or veterinary work. Students explore how cells and molecules function, the variety of living things, and how organisms use genetic information. They also build skills in lab work, scientific communication and solving problems, including work with a live cell imaging microscope. Plan on 4 semesters and 62 credits to finish this degree. Classes meet on the West Boylston Street campus. Entry calls for a high school diploma or an equivalency credential such as the GED or HiSET. Because tuition is charged by the credit, the total cost depends on how many credits a student takes. In-state and out-of-state or international students pay different rates, and certain programs carry extra fees.
