BA/BS in Computer Science

Computer science at Radford is taught by the computing and information sciences school. Students pursue a Bachelor of Science, and the department also provides a cybersecurity degree and a minor in the subject. In the technology-oriented degree track, students select from four specializations named Software, Networks, Database and Computer Science. The Computer Science concentration is ABET accredited and builds a foundation in operating systems, computer organization, language design and algorithm theory, with technical electives that let students specialize. The Software concentration follows the full development lifecycle, from gathering requirements through maintenance of large systems. The school keeps relationships with employers that lead to internships and cooperative education placements. Students can also take part in clubs including UPE and ACM. Employers regularly hire graduates, and cooperative education differs from a one-term internship by lasting longer.
