BA/BS in Communication and Media Studies

Radford's communication major sits in the School of Communication and lets students follow one of two concentrations, Communication Studies or Public Relations. Majors earn a B.A. or a B.S. whichever concentration they select. The Communication Studies track blends coursework from several liberal arts areas to explain why people interact as they do, including in civic settings, political activity and movements for change. The Public Relations track combines technical communication skills with theory aimed at entry-level roles in the field. Students work in a social media analytics research lab, design a working campaign for a business in the community, and finish with a senior capstone. A short internship in a related field is required, and an optional semester abroad in France is available through a partner college in Lille. The program also lists related minors in cinema and screen studies, media studies and digital communication.
